Movie #13 Pontypool

Pontypool is a zombie movie like 28 Days Later is a zombie, which means it isn't, yes the people are infected and act like Zombies but they're not. The movie has one of the most clever and unique ways that the people become infected that I've ever seen.

Stephen McHattie takes the lead as a disc jockey of the small town of Pontypool, and as his morning show goes on they continue to get strange reports of riots and violent attacks by groups of people against innocents. McHattie takes the role and becomes it, granted I've never seen him in something before but he was just so convincing and real.

The movie is aesthetically seamless, and plays perfectly. The movie is shot beautifully and the script is wicked smart. The tension builds up so much in the first hour of the movie that it becomes incredibly unsettling to even watch it let alone imagine yourself in such a position. Having said that the movie exhibits incredible amounts of patience and unlike most recent zombie movies doesn't blow its wad in the first 10 minutes.

Pontypool is definitely my favorite movie I've watched thus far that I hadn't seen before, and probably my favorite thus far. The movie is an excellent horror movie and everyone should watch it.
